Pocketbook

The WHO Pocketbook of Hospital Care for Children was first published in Lao language in 2011 and the second edition published in 2015.

It is for use by pediatricians and other health workers who are responsible for the care of young children in hospital in Lao PDR.

The WHO Pocketbook is a resource to guide case management for sick children. This resource also supports the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI). It focuses on the major causes of child mortality, including pneumonia, diarrhoea, malnutrition and neonatal conditions.

The English version of the Pocketbook is available for download. There is also a very useful Android app/Iphone app to download the English version of the Pocketbook on your phone (can be viewed offline).

In the future, the Lao version will also be available for download. We will also post corrections to the Lao version of the Pocketbook.
